CSF Ministry Community
Winter 2026
hello again Reader,
as always, I pray these updates encourage, inspire, and challenge you as we help college students find and follow Jesus.
from the field:
University of Nebraska Omaha (CSF_Omaha)
Alpha, Ask, and Bible Studies! It's been a busy semester for Omaha. We're started running Alpha at Kingsway Christian Church every Sunday at 7pm. It's 1/3 dinner, 1/3 film on a topic of the Christian faith, and 1/3 discussion. Weeks vary greatly on attendance, but we have a solid crew that's been fairly regularly and engaging the content really well!
Thursdays on campus have also gone well so far! "Ask" kicked off the semester strong with a new student joining our usual crew for a great conversation on the importance of having faith in Jesus. The following Thursdays we've been studying through 1 Thessalonians as a crew. Been fun!
Lastly, Samantha and I had an opportunity to attend a citywide Church leader conference by an organization called "Within Reach." Rich Villodas was the speaker and it was really great! That week I had also attended (virtually) the Practicing The Way Pastor's Conference which took place in Santa Monica, CA. So the virtual ticket wasn't the same, but it was really encouraging and thought provoking!
Iowa Western Community College (CSF_CB)
It's been a very steady semester at Iowa Western. Losing a couple students to moving at the end semester had us down, but such is life at a community college. We've kicked off with a couple of new guys who have engaged really well. I've been immensely impressed with them and their presence is really meaningful for the group.
Coming out of the break some students mentioned that we needed to change a few things about CSF Weekly. So we've added some new lighting, snacks, and some more refined elements of the Bible Study. And after 4 weeks in Jonah I can tell you they've been great changes!
post-CSF kahoot - I realized I missed this core public school memory as a homeschooler. I felt very old.
for you and your prayers.
thank you:
for your prayers. - I've been setting more and more time each week aside to pray for students and I can say it's been making a difference. Thank you for praying for me, students, and God to impact lives at these campuses!
for your gifts. - I cannot do this work without you. As Courtney and I did some financial planning over Christmas, I got to see at a high level the huge generosity you show towards my work with CSF. It's a joy to be partnered with you!
pray for
Spring Break(s) - From March 15th to 19th I'll be in Kansas City with Omaha students joining our UNK ministry's team serving another organization that is involved in the foster care system! The following week, March 21st-25th, I'll be with IWCC students in Denver, CO seeing and serving the church. Pray for me to survive and for students to be impacted by the trips!
Continued engagement from students!

Patient Ferment
No, we're not brewing anything. Rather, it's a thoughtful exploration of the growth of Christianity over the first 300 years of it existing. While academic, it's been very accessible. I've deeply and enjoyed it and I highly recommend reading it!
Last year I took a few students to an Ash Wednesday service. They had a ton of questions and I realized I didn't have great answers. So I sat down and put together some thoughts around Ash Wednesday and Lent! Enjoy!
